Our Community Projects & Activities
At Community Wellbeing Hub CIC, we bring people together through a diverse range of activities designed to support wellbeing, encourage participation and strengthen community connections.
Our projects include creative workshops, drumming circles, holistic wellbeing sessions, community gatherings, family activities and opportunities to develop new skills.
We deliver both group activities and individual wellbeing support, recognising that people have different needs, circumstances and preferences.
Our programmes provide opportunities for people to explore new experiences, develop confidence, learn practical wellbeing techniques and build supportive relationships with others.
Working alongside local organisations and referral partners, we aim to make these opportunities available to people who might otherwise face financial, physical or social barriers to participation.
Whether someone joins us for a community event, a creative activity or a structured wellbeing programme, our focus is on providing a welcoming environment where everyone feels included and valued.
Our Journey & Community Impact
Community Wellbeing Hub CIC was established in 2021 with a vision of creating more accessible wellbeing opportunities for people across Maybole, Carrick and the wider Ayrshire community.
What began as a commitment to addressing local wellbeing needs has developed into an established community organisation with a growing portfolio of funded projects, partnerships and community initiatives.
Since our beginnings, we have successfully secured support from a range of funding organisations, including The National Lottery Community Fund, the Scottish Government’s Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, South Ayrshire Council, the Asda Foundation and VASA.
This support has enabled us to develop and deliver programmes for children, young people, families and adults, responding to challenges such as poor mental health, social isolation, financial hardship and barriers to accessing wellbeing services.
Over the years, we have expanded our activities to include individual holistic therapy programmes, family wellbeing initiatives, regular community groups, inclusive festivals and improvements to our community facilities.
Each project has contributed to our understanding of local needs and helped shape the development of future initiatives.
Through project evaluations, participant feedback and ongoing engagement with our community, we continue to learn, adapt and develop opportunities that make a meaningful difference.
As we look to the future, our focus remains on building sustainable community wellbeing initiatives, strengthening relationships and ensuring that the people who need support can access it.
Our Funded Projects & Achievements
Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund 2022–2026
Community Wellbeing Hub CIC has delivered four years of funded holistic wellbeing programmes, supporting adults across Maybole, Carrick and surrounding rural communities who experience mental health challenges, long-term health conditions and financial barriers to accessing support.
Working through established referral relationships with local GP surgeries, NHS services, community links workers, social work, recovery services and third-sector organisations, we have provided structured blocks of holistic therapy tailored to individual needs.
Across the three years for which detailed evaluations are currently available (2023–2026), we recorded:
149 participant places
1,134 therapy sessions and recorded attendances
Over £67,000 in reported project expenditure
Consistent participant-reported reductions in stress, anxiety and pain
Our programmes have also supported participants to develop self-management skills, rebuild confidence and progress into volunteering, peer support, training and community involvement.
Beyond individual treatment outcomes, our work has demonstrated the importance of accessible, person-centred support and strong partnerships between community organisations and statutory services.
Our ambition is to build on this experience, reaching more people facing disadvantage and creating lasting opportunities for improved wellbeing, independence and community connection.
Children, Young People & Families
Community Wellbeing Hub CIC has successfully delivered two programmes supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, providing accessible wellbeing opportunities for children, teenagers, parents and carers.
Our first programme, delivered during 2021–2022, supported 72 children and 28 adults and caregivers through creative activities, mindfulness, drumming, therapeutic support and family wellbeing workshops.
Building on this experience, further National Lottery funding was awarded in December 2024 to deliver Teenage Holistic Wellbeing Sessions.
This programme supported 87 young people through a combination of group activities and individual sessions, including yoga, drumming, aromatherapy, breathwork and sound therapy.
Both projects focused on helping young people develop confidence, manage stress, explore healthy coping strategies and experience the benefits of connection, creativity and emotional wellbeing.
Our evaluations also highlighted the importance of involving parents and carers, recognising that supporting young people’s wellbeing often means supporting the wider family
Tackling Loneliness & Social Isolation
Community Wellbeing Hub CIC has a strong history of creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where people can connect, build friendships and access support.
Our work began with the VASA-supported Cosy Spaces initiative, which provided a warm, friendly environment during the winter months of 2022–2023. Offering refreshments, creative activities, games, conversation and peer support, the project recorded 210 individual participants and 360 attendances.
Building on the success of Cosy Spaces, we developed our Weekly Wellbeing Group, securing support from the Maybole & North Carrick Locality Planning Partnership for two consecutive years, 2024–2025 and 2025–2026.
The group provides opportunities for social connection, shared activities and informal wellbeing support, particularly for people experiencing loneliness, isolation or barriers to community participation.
Our commitment to tackling isolation continues through our Chatty Spaces project, supported by VASA funding for 2026–2027. This initiative builds on our established community connections, creating further opportunities for people to access a welcoming environment, develop friendships and receive appropriate support.
Across these projects, our focus remains on reducing isolation, strengthening community connections and helping people feel valued, included and supported.
Community Wellbeing Festivals (2024–2026)
Community Wellbeing Hub CIC has successfully delivered four community wellbeing festivals between 2024 and 2026, supported by Destination South Ayrshire funding through South Ayrshire Council.
Our festivals are designed to bring people together, celebrate community wellbeing and provide free, inclusive opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to explore activities that support their mental, emotional and physical health.
From creative arts and crafts, music and drumming to holistic wellbeing experiences, family activities and opportunities for social connection, each festival offers a welcoming environment where people can try something new, meet others and discover local wellbeing resources.
Across our four festivals, we recorded 806 attendances, demonstrating the reach of these accessible community events.
Our festivals have included:
A Place for Everyone – August 2024
New Year, New You – January 2025
Spring Awakening – May 2025
Summer Wellbeing Festival – 2026
Participant feedback has consistently highlighted the value of bringing people together, providing opportunities to experience new activities and creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels included.
Our festivals continue to play an important role in strengthening community connections, promoting positive wellbeing and reducing barriers to participation.
Creating Spaces for Community Wellbeing
Community Wellbeing Hub CIC is committed to creating welcoming, accessible and inspiring spaces where individuals, families and community groups can come together.
In 2024, we successfully secured support from the Asda Foundation’s Investing in Spaces and Places programme to improve and develop our community facilities in Maybole.
This investment enabled us to undertake a programme of improvements designed to enhance our community spaces, creating more opportunities for local organisations, young people, families and community members to participate in wellbeing activities.
Our vision has always been to provide more than simply a venue. We want to create an environment where people feel comfortable, supported and inspired to connect with others, explore their creativity and develop new skills.
Alongside our community space development, we have also secured support through South Ayrshire Council’s Participatory Budgeting programme to improve our digital resources, helping us strengthen communication, accessibility and the delivery of community wellbeing initiatives.
By investing in our facilities and resources, we are building a stronger foundation for future projects, partnerships and opportunities that benefit our local community.
Our Partnerships & Community Impact
Working in Partnership
Partnership working is central to everything we do at Community Wellbeing Hub CIC.
Over the years, we have developed valuable working relationships with NHS services, local GP surgeries, social work, mental health services, recovery services, community links practitioners and other third-sector organisations.
These relationships enable us to reach individuals and families who may otherwise struggle to access wellbeing support, particularly those experiencing mental health challenges, long-term health conditions, financial hardship or social isolation.
Through established referral pathways, collaborative projects and community engagement, we help connect people with opportunities that support their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
We believe that effective community wellbeing depends on organisations working together, sharing knowledge and responding to the needs of the people they serve.
Our ongoing commitment is to strengthen these relationships, develop new partnerships and ensure that wellbeing opportunities remain accessible to those who need them most.
Our Impact in Numbers
At Community Wellbeing Hub CIC, we believe the real measure of success is the difference our projects make to people’s lives.
Since 2021, our funded initiatives have supported children, young people, families and adults across Maybole, Carrick and surrounding communities.
Our project evaluations demonstrate the reach and impact of our work:
806 recorded attendances across four inclusive community wellbeing festivals between 2024 and 2026.
100 children and adults supported through our 2021–2022 National Lottery-funded family wellbeing programme.
87 young people supported through our Teenage Holistic Wellbeing Sessions programme.
210 individual participants and 360 attendances recorded through our Cosy Spaces initiative.
Four years of funded holistic therapy programmes, supporting adults experiencing mental health challenges, long-term health conditions and barriers to accessing support.
Two consecutive years of funding to sustain our Weekly Wellbeing Group and provide opportunities for social connection.
Beyond these figures, our evaluations highlight improvements in wellbeing, increased confidence, reduced isolation and opportunities for participants to become more actively involved in their communities.
These figures represent outcomes from individual projects rather than a combined total of unique beneficiaries.
